Originated
in 1925 by Raymond S. Mowery, the company began as a local residential
and commercial construction company in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. Mowery's
ability to consistently deliver quality work quickly earned the
organization a reputation for reliability, and by the late 1940s,
Mowery was constructing large commercial projects throughout the
state. In 1953, the company incorporated as R. S. Mowery & Sons,
Inc. Donald V. Mowery, son of Raymond, was named president in 1963
and retired in 1989. His son, Donald H. Mowery, became president
in 1984.
Today,
Mowery offers construction management, general construction, and
design/build services for major institutional, industrial, and commercial
clients. Construction management - in which Mowery works in conjunction
with a project architect - constitutes 40 percent of the company
business. Design/build - in which Mowery has complete responsibility
for a building from start to finish - and general construction comprise
the remaining 60 percent. Specialties include industrial and distribution
facilities, buildings for colleges and universities, senior care
communities, office complexes, and medical facilities.
